Sneak Preview (a Tastemakers site) matches you with professional movie critics who share your taste.
We collect as little as possible to do that, and this page describes all of it.
What we collect
- If you take the quiz: when you complete it, we record your results
— which critics matched and how closely, and how many movies you rated —
along with standard technical information your browser sends, such as IP
address, approximate location, and device type. We use this to make sure
the matching is working well. We don't ask for your name, and your
individual movie ratings are not sent to us unless you sign up for
emails.
- If you sign up for emails: your email address, your matched critics,
and your quiz answers (so we can update your matches as new reviews are
published, without asking you to retake the quiz).
- Anonymous usage counts. We count events — visits, quizzes started and
completed, signups, shares — and the website a visit came from. These are
aggregate tallies with no names, accounts, IP addresses, or cookies attached,
and they cannot be traced to you.
What we don't do
- No cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics or ad networks.
- No accounts, no passwords.
- We never sell or rent your personal information.
- We never let anyone pay to influence your critic matches or recommendations.
How we use your email
Only to send you what you signed up for: updates when your matched critics
publish new reviews, and your list of past movies they loved. Every email
includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deletes your record —
email, matches, and quiz answers — entirely.
Services we rely on
- Netlify hosts this site and stores subscriber records and the
anonymous usage counts.
- TMDB serves the movie poster images you see, from their servers.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- If we use an email delivery service to send the emails described above,
it will process your email address solely on our behalf.
Aggregate statistics
We may study or publish aggregated, non-identifying statistics — for example,
how often critics and audiences disagree about a movie. These never include
your email address or any information that could identify you.
Deleting your data
Click unsubscribe in any email from us, and your record — email, matches,
and quiz answers — is deleted immediately. A contact address for access and
deletion requests will be published here shortly.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, if you're
a subscriber, tell you by email.
